The Minister of Defense of Ukraine will report to NATO on the current military situation
Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Zagorodnyuk will hold a briefing for the North Atlantic Council on the current military situation in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, the government press service reports.
“The visit (of the North Atlantic Council to Ukraine - Ed.) was deliberately made for two days - our colleagues from Brussels arrive directly to Odessa. Odessa has a very busy program with visits and meetings with cadets and future naval officers,” Kuleba said.
He said that, while in Brussels at NATO, he asked his colleagues from the alliance to continue supporting the internship program for Ukrainian Navy officers on ships of NATO member countries.
“In Odessa there will also be a visit to the ships (three NATO minesweepers - ed.) that I mentioned, and an acquaintance with the current military situation in Ukraine. These will be briefings conducted specifically for the North Atlantic Council in Ukraine. The briefing will be given by the Minister of Defense as of now on the program, and I will also be involved in this from a political point of view. We will provide it to our partners in the most detailed format, because there is a sufficient level of trust between us to be as frank as possible about what will happen. I don’t think that the North Atlantic Council will intervene in any specific way with advice or instructions in the situation that we now have in the East of Ukraine, but the alliance supports a peaceful resolution of the conflict, from the point of view of the interests of Ukraine,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
As Ukrainian media reported, the North Atlantic Council will bring to Kyiv a report on NATO assistance provided to Ukraine.
