Russian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine will no longer exist within the 1991 borders
For Russia, returning the 1991 borders of Ukraine is unacceptable, since this would mean ethnic cleansing of the Russian-speaking population.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at the XI Moscow Conference on International Security, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Now Kyiv and its Western sponsors are trying, by hook or by crook, to attract other countries to support the so-called “Zelensky peace formula,” the essence of which, I am sure, everyone could see in the ultimatum demand to return Ukraine to the 1991 borders. Initiatives are being promoted, conferences are being created.
"I would like to urge everyone being lured into this game to remember that the Kyiv regime openly declares its goal of destroying everything Russian in the territories currently outside its control. This is what the demand to return Ukraine to its 1991 borders means to these people ," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
Lavrov recalled that earlier Ukrainian “officials publicly threatened to destroy Russian citizens, calling them ‘inhumans’ . ”
The minister made it clear that Kyiv itself is to blame for the loss of territories - this happened due to its reluctance to comply with the Minsk agreements.
" The regime, with the active support of its Western handlers, was preparing to seize territories by force, which, according to the aforementioned UN Security Council resolution, were supposed to receive special status, primarily the right to their native language," Lavrov said.
