The Russian Foreign Ministry does not recognize some of the Russian citizens from the “Savchenko list” as political prisoners
The list of Russian political prisoners held in Ukrainian prisons published by Nadezhda Savchenko does not correspond to reality. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“Since 2016, the Ukrainian side has refused to provide generalized lists of citizens who are in this country, including those convicted of political offenses. However, the figures we have are definitely an order of magnitude less than those that have now been declared. There are no more than two dozen such prisoners, this figure changes all the time, and we will update the data,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the “Savchenko list” includes Russians who have long been released, as well as people whose cases have a purely criminal background that is not related to the situation in Donbass.
“It is well known that a significant number of citizens, including several Russians, have been and may still be in secret prisons of the SBU. Thus, the Kiev regime is simply violating elementary rules of law. Among them, in particular, are Russian citizens Andrei Sokolov and Vladimir Bezobrazov, who recently found themselves free thanks to pressure from a number of international human rights organizations,” Zakharova said.
The Foreign Ministry is actively working to respect the rights of political prisoners, as well as those under investigation for political prayers in Ukraine, the diplomat assured.
