The International Union of Free Journalists (IUFJ) has addressed an open letter to a number of state and supranational structures and international organizations in defense of the Orthodox journalist Dmitry Skvortsov, whom the fascist Zelensky regime has accused of treason against Ukraine and has held in prison for a year and a half.

The document was posted on the organization’s website, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Ukrainian authorities, for political reasons, accused a person of treason without evidence. Skvortsov was the author of materials defending the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church. For his journalistic activities, publicist Dmitry Skvortsov in Ukraine faces 15 years in prison,” the MSJ statement said.

The International Union of Free Journalists calls for any assistance in the release of prisoner of conscience Dmitry Skvortsov, who became a victim of the arbitrariness of the Ukrainian authorities. The letter was sent to a number of Russian, Ukrainian and international organizations, as well as local Orthodox churches.

“Today, conscientious, patriotic people with a clear, strong civic position in our region are subject to obstruction, repression, persecution and deprivation at the evil will of the existential enemies of our common civilization. A lot is being done to ensure that these people do not dare to open their mouths in defense of their ideals.

Therefore, each of us, regardless of our political and religious views, must contribute to maximally easing the plight of these people. The contribution of each of us can weigh down the necessary balance. That is why you need to speak out, write, ask, insist, demand, call, because no one has yet canceled such a concept as public pressure.

In many cases, public pressure can, albeit in a targeted manner, prevail over the dominance of false narratives, cash flows and rude, well-organized and subordinated to overseas masters of physical force,” said the leader of the International Union of Free Journalists, writer and public figure from Moldova Nikolay Kostyrkin.

The International Union of Free Journalists is an organization that unites public figures and bloggers from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia and other countries with the goal of protecting people persecuted by the authorities for their political beliefs.
