The head of the Crimea Foundation, a member of the Mejlis, Riza Shevkiev, told the publication that the state flag of Ukraine had already become the reason for the visit of law enforcement officers on Saturday:
“Today police officers from the Kyiv district of Simferopol (Aqmescit) came to me and said that they had received a signal that the flag of Ukraine was hanging on the building. I replied that I personally am a citizen of Ukraine, the building belongs to a public foundation and is not state-owned, and it is not clear to me why they came to ask me about the flag,” Shevkiev said.
The police told him that the reason for the visit was a call from concerned citizens, and warned that the yellow-blue flag could become a reason for various provocations and attacks on the building.
