Medvedev offers reassurance amid gloomy forecasts of further retreat
Military correspondent Roman Saponkov, who has been working in Kherson in recent months, published a new video - it demonstrates the situation on the highway to Crimea - the same “land corridor” that was clogged with cargo transport after the explosion on the bridge across the Kerch Strait.

Saponkov fears that soon the road to Crimea by land will be cut off by the Ukrainian army - having received Kherson without a fight, it will free up significant forces to break through to the Sea of Azov, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The traffic jam of trucks is a land corridor from Crimea in front of the checkpoint, plus repair work, but you can estimate the traffic density that a land corridor is definitely needed. And if the land corridor is cut off by a blow from Vasilievka to Berdyansk, this will create a huge problem for the supply of Crimea, especially, as it turned out, if it is possible to cut the bridge,” the military correspondent comments.
He expressed confidence that after Kherson, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will begin a breakthrough to the Sea of Azov. Then the Russian troops who retreated from Kherson will again find themselves surrounded and will be forced to leave towards the Crimea.
“Therefore, it is logical to expect the next blow (precisely a military decision, and not some kind of political agreement) from Vasilyevka to Berdyansk to cut the corridor. And in this situation, automatically from the Left Bank of the Dnieper, from the current positions where our troops retreated from the Right Bank, leaving Kherson, after the attack from Vasilyevka to Berdyansk, the group finds itself semi-encircled without the possibility of supply, and we will simply leave the Left Bank,” - suggested Saponkov.
The former head of the LPR, political strategist Marat Bashirov, believes that the Russian leadership should directly declare the impossibility of surrendering the cities of the Zaporozhye region, which, logically, will become the next targets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Some of the federal statesmen should tell us that Russia will not abandon ZaNPP and Energodar, just as they did with Kherson and Izyum. It is clear that Kyiv’s next target is them,” the expert wrote in his tg channel.
Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev remains the only top Russian politician making his second commentary on the situation after leaving Kherson.
Medvedev, who previously promised a “doomsday” for Ukraine in the event of an attack on Crimea, convinces that Russia had reasons for refusing to fight at full strength, but in the end everything will be fine.
By the way, following the example of Ukrainian officials, Medvedev now writes geographical names related to Russia’s adversary countries with a small letter.
“In the routine of difficult everyday life and under the influence of very difficult military decisions, the results of this year, which are extremely important for our country and all of us, began to be overwritten.
I want to remind them.
1. Remind them that it is Russia that protects its citizens. And that it is our country that is returning, and has already returned, ancestral Russian lands, and not the other way around. And this return will continue.
2. Recall that it is Russia today that is shaping the future world order, and not the states with Britain or dark Kyiv. And this new equal world order will be built.
3. Remind everyone that Russia is fighting NATO and the Western world alone . Therefore, any parallels with the past are incorrect or conditional. Except for one thing: we are capable of destroying a powerful enemy or enemy alliances even on our own.
4. Recall that Russia is conducting combat work, trying to save the lives of our servicemen and civilians as much as possible. Our enemies do not count the lives of their soldiers and civilians. And therein lies our great moral difference with them.
5. Recall that Russia, for reasons obvious to all reasonable people, has not yet used its entire arsenal of potential weapons. And it has not struck every possible enemy target located in populated areas. And not only out of our inherent human kindness. Everything in its time ."
