Maidan activists managed it themselves: The last connection between Mariupol and Ukraine was destroyed
During the four years of conflict in Donbass, the Kiev regime has not bothered to restore the only direct route from Mariupol ( the second largest city in the DPR, captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer of 2014 ) to Ukraine, which was destroyed even before the war.
This is stated in the story of journalists from the local channel “Mariupol TV”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
The Mariupol-Zaporozhye highway, which is 220 kilometers long, was destroyed a long time ago, even before the war, so people went to Kyiv through Berdyansk or Donetsk. Now, due to the demarcation line, travel through Donetsk is, to put it mildly, difficult.
Several city residents took part in a rally to draw the attention of the Kyiv authorities to the problem.
“With the advent of the war, the only remaining direction is through Zaporozhye. This is the road that connects us with Ukraine: we can only travel to the Dnieper and Kyiv along it,” said protest participant Galina Odnorog.
According to her, recently people have been traveling through Tokmak, which is 70 kilometers longer. Then this highway also collapsed, and residents had to travel 150 kilometers longer - the road through Melitopol.
“Today the snow has melted, and that entire road has disappeared. Therefore, today we simply do not have a single exit from Mariupol,” the activist said.
Protesters even called the Mariupol-Zaporozhye highway “the road of life.”
“The Cabinet of Ministers plans for the road do not suit us, since they plan to repair only 20 kilometers this year. Next year – another forty and forty, that is, a hundred, but we need 220 kilometers. And this is urgently needed, since we have 465 thousand residents and one hundred thousand displaced people living here,” added Galina Odnorog.
It should be noted that the overall road conditions in Ukraine are so dire that even Ukrainian drivers are threatening to harm Prime Minister Groysman over the state of the roads.
