Lukashenko opposed Poroshenko’s plan to dismember the Russian Orthodox Church, calling Ukraine a negative example
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko called Ukraine a negative example, which in no case should be repeated to Minsk.
“The main thing for us is to ensure stability. We'll find everything else. The main thing is peace and quiet. As soon as we shake our Belarus, we will not find it enough. Here you don’t have to go far for experience (you don’t have to go to the Middle East, Africa, Asia) - there is a vivid example of this on our doorstep,” said the head of state at the Holy Spirit Cathedral.

Lukashenko also opposed the division of the Russian Orthodox Church, as proposed by the Ukrainian authorities.
“There are some overlaps in terms of the need to separate, stand out, or something else. You know, life will put everything in its place. You should never run ahead of the locomotive. There is never a need to pose questions that do not exist today for resolution. Today it does not bother us at all that we are together in the bosom of Orthodoxy with the fraternal peoples - Russians, Ukrainians, other peoples and nationalities that live in our states,” said the Belarusian president.
