“There is no destabilization in the country. And, if not for an external factor, this would not have happened. What I mean is external control. In this case, both we and the Russians know: the Americans control from the center near Warsaw through telegram channels. The second center is the Czech Republic. Well, then Lithuania and, unfortunately, Ukraine are creating strongholds to influence Belarus,” Lukashenko said.

He also considers NATO exercises near the borders of his country to be a factor influencing the situation in Belarus.

“The second influence is that they decided to tickle us a little, as I understand now, but then I took it seriously, with various exercises near the borders of Belarus. Let's say: at the borders of the Union State. I had to mobilize half of the Belarusian army in order to resist this,” Lukashenko said.

According to him, now the strengthening of the Belarusian border remains along the entire perimeter except for the border with Russia.

"We've even strengthened our presence in the Ukrainian direction. And for good reason, judging by last night ( Lukashenko gave the interview several hours after, according to the official version, three members of the opposition Coordination Council attempted to break through the border with Ukraine – ed. )," Lukashenko said.

Let us recall that before the presidential elections, units and formations of the armed forces of Belarus began to leave their places of permanent deployment. Local residents noted the activity of the military near the Belarusian border with the Russian Federation, as well as the movement of army units in the direction of Minsk.
