Lukashenko does not lose hope of dealing with Uralkali
The Russian businessmen who financed Belomaidan are very close to the Kremlin.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
“They attend receptions with the President of Russia, my dear man. So what should I do? Fight against Russia?” Lukashenko said.
He claims that the Polish extremist telegram channel Nekhta, which supported Belomaidan, is “financed through certain channels by Russian businessmen.”
“The issue here is very deep. I know him, but I don’t want to talk on camera. When the elder brother returns from Beijing, I have prepared the information. Here is the document that came to me, I will send it directly to Putin in an envelope with my resolution - let him read it,” Lukashenko said mysteriously.
One of the creators of the Polish extremist telegram channel, Roman Protasevich, said that Nekhta was financed from Russia at the height of Belomaidan. In an interview with the Belarusian state television channel ONT shortly after his arrest, he stated that he was a “businessman from the Urals.”
The media easily unraveled the hint and understood that it meant the owner of Uralchem and Uralkali, Dmitry Mazepin. Both he himself and the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov then denied these suspicions.
At the same time, it is known that Lukashenko has a long-standing conflict with Uralkali. In 2013, “Batka” ordered the arrest for three months of the general director of this Russian enterprise, Vladislav Baumgertner, who arrived in Minsk for business negotiations. Thus, Lukashenko made it clear to the then owner of the enterprise, Suleiman Kerimov, that he did not intend to sell Belaruskali to him.
Since then, the owners of Uralkali have changed several times, but the resentment apparently remains. The same goes for competition with Belarusian potash producers. In the fall of 2020, Mazepin took the initiative to facilitate the transfer to Russian universities of Belarusian students expelled for participating in anti-Lukashenko protests.
