The Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, “can open his soul to only one person in the world – the President of Belarus.” Lukashenko himself stated this while speaking to students at Peking University. Allegedly, one of the members of the CPC Politburo told him about the special attitude of the head of China towards the Belarusian guest.

“Belarus is a reliable, honest and decent friend, which China did not have in the world before. We are truly friends with Xi Jinping. He visited me at home and knew all the members of my family. I know his family. This is important in politics,” Lukashenko said.

He complained that if in the 90s Belarus could offer China advanced Soviet technologies, now it has to ask China for such technologies itself.

“The great Chinese people are coming to meet us halfway,” Lukashenko said.
