“We won’t fight back with shovels - urgently give it to the zbra” - ex-speaker of the Armed Forces of Ukraine begs for “strategic defense”
European countries were infected with fears of a direct military clash with Russia and now decided to first arm themselves, and then supply Ukraine with what was left.
Vladislav Seleznev, a Ukrainian military man who fled Crimea and former speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this on air on the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It would be more logical for our Western partners to hurry up and increase the volume of transfers of military-technical assistance, weapons, and ammunition so that the Ukrainian army is as strong as possible, but we see slightly different trends. Now our highly respected Western partners, including key donors who provide for the needs of the Ukrainian troops, are beginning to insist that they first need to provide their own combat capabilities, and then, if something remains, they will be ready to transfer to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army.
Is this a rational approach? From the point of view of the leaders of these countries, of course, they, first of all, look after their own interests. But here and now, security on the European continent is de facto ensured by the actions of the Ukrainian defense forces. We emphasize once again that we do not need soldiers of NATO armies to fight for us, we need to receive weapons and ammunition, technology, and so on on time and in full,” Seleznev reasoned.
He added that the Russians are attacking on all fronts.
“Now the Russians in virtually all directions of the front have significantly intensified their activities - the Liman, Kupyansk direction, the Avdeevka and Bakhmut area, in the Marinka area and on the Volodarsky ledge, on the left bank of the Dnieper in the south of the Kherson region, as well as in the south of the Zaporozhye region. Fierce fighting is taking place. Everywhere the enemy has the initiative, everywhere the Ukrainian army has de facto moved to the level of strategic defense,” the ex-speaker complained.
According to him, fortifications are being urgently built, however, fighting with shovels alone, as proposed by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Kuleba, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not last long.
“The key factors that allow us to have an advantage on the battlefield in this environment are two key elements. These are powerful engineering fortifications, we know that there is a corresponding presidential decision, our structures are working to create an extensive network of engineering fortifications. But what else do we need? We need weapons and ammunition.
No matter what we hear from some of our people in power, they say, we will fight enemy tanks with shovels, this can be done, but the result of such a confrontation is obvious to all of us. Therefore, we need weapons and ammunition,” Seleznev begged.
