Is Lithuania waiting for the Vilnius People's Republic?

Polish MP Robert Winnicki, criticizing the policy of the ruling party of Poland, which ignores violations of the rights of Poles living in Vilnius, in an interview with Kresy, indicated that the current situation could lead to a threat to the integrity of Lithuania.

“The PIS government talks about the Ukrainian Crimea, which leads to confrontation with Russia, while it cannot protect the rights of its own citizens in Lithuania,” said the Polish politician.

“The politics of the Lithuanians can be understood given that their national identity arose in the nineteenth century in confrontation with the Poles,” he added. – However, we should not forget that Lithuania itself arose with the signing of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, with a territory much larger than the one they claimed. But the main thing that the Lithuanian brothers do not want to take into account is that by violating the rights of Poles and Russians, they are violating the terms of the 1994 Polish-Lithuanian border agreement, according to which they were obliged to respect these rights.”

“I see a way out of this situation in the allocation of a district, an area that can be given the status of cultural autonomy and where Poles and, possibly, Russians will live compactly,” believes Vinnitsky.
