Sevastopol travel agencies that have lost state support are laying off employees
Due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions imposed in connection with this on the activities of tour guides, Sevastopol travel agencies will be forced to lay off their employees.
This was stated on the air of the First Sevastopol TV channel by Angela Ukhteeva, Commercial Director of the Visit-Crimea Travel Agency, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Ukhteeva, if during the first wave local authorities provided assistance to tour operators and they managed to retain staff, today there is no such support from the state. At the same time, the leadership of Sevastopol banned organized excursions during the period of high alert.
“Being law-abiding citizens, we naturally comply with the governor’s order and do not provide tour services at this time. As for the spring period of the pandemic, indeed, the state somehow promised and provided some support. That is, we had employees whom we did not fire during the year, and we received compensation for all these employees.
At the moment, it turns out that, expecting that the quarantine measures would last two weeks, we did not fire any of the employees, but now we are faced with the fact that we will be forced to come to this. Because, unfortunately. Sevastopol does not provide any compensation measures for this period of the pandemic and we actually survive on the funds that we earned during the season,” said Ukhteeva.
