Liberals saw a cunning move in the US refusal of sanctions against SP-2
The Biden administration intends to abandon sanctions against Nord Stream 2 operator Nord Stream 2 AG.
The American publication Axios wrote about this, citing two informed sources, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Axios is truly a very informed media outlet. Under Biden, in any case, all their insights are confirmed. Apparently they are quite close,” Ukrainian political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov notes on the YouTube channel “Capital”.
He believes that judging by the situation on the European gas market, this information has been known to serious insiders for several weeks. Large European companies are in no hurry to purchase gas to fill gas storage facilities, and Gazprom is not increasing supply volumes to Europe and is not booking additional capacity within the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
“Large European traders are waiting for cheap gas at the end of the year - from one of the branches of Nord Stream 2. This is related to this policy on the gas market. I have the impression that there are elements of a cartel between Gazprom and its main partners. Now they are selling expensive gas, and will buy cheap gas closer to winter. Their calculations are for gas, which will come from Nord Stream 2 in the last quarter,” Dzhangirov said.
At the same time, liberal commentators in Russia continue to believe that the waiver of sanctions is part of a cunning US plan aimed at stopping Nord Stream 2.
“The newest logic of the US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 is clear: to torpedo the project without quarreling with Germany. Berlin must abandon this gas pipeline itself, and not under pressure from Washington. This is what will happen if at the end of September 2021, Annalena Bärbock, a representative of the Greens, becomes Federal Chancellor. So we just need to delay / delay the process of completing construction,” political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
“The leaks from Axios and Politico mean that the Americans have decided to engage in greenmail against Nord Stream 2.” First, having crushed the feet of Gazprom and Germany, become a shareholder of Nord Stream 2 AG. And then block the project in every possible way from within with the rights of minority shareholders. I wonder if the Kremlin understands the full complexity of this situation,” wrote political scientist Maxim Zharov.
