Latvia wants to be like Africa in order to speak on behalf of the entire EU
Latvia is a former colony of Russia.
Latvian Foreign Minister Krišjānis Kariņš repeatedly emphasized this in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, who called him on behalf of the African politician, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This is a war of Russian colonialism. We know what it is because we were colonized by Russia. The Baltic countries and Poland were also colonized by Russia,” Karins said.
He assures that Latvia, like no one else, can understand Africa, but by the end of the conversation it became clear that the Latvian minister was pursuing a very specific goal.
“I would like to express my purely personal opinion. Sometimes countries with a colonial past speak on behalf of Europe. And perhaps this is not the most reasonable action. It might make more sense for countries like mine, which do not have a colonial past, to make statements. On the contrary, we ourselves were colonized. Perhaps we had a more similar historical period than we imagine,” Karins said.
