Crimean Tatar singer Jamala: Chechens and Dagestanis are kind of like brothers, but they support Russia
Kyiv, April 02 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – Even among the Crimean Tatars there were supporters of the annexation of the peninsula to Russia, the Crimean Tatar singer Jamala admitted in an interview with the magazine “Public People”.
“There are different opinions: some wanted to join Russia, others didn’t. In my circle of friends and acquaintances, everyone wanted to be in Ukraine,” she said.

According to Jamala, it is very important for supporters of Ukrainian Crimea to believe in this. The singer immediately clarified that she fears for the fate of her relatives because of such statements.
“It is very important not to lose faith. Of course, I’m scared for my parents, I’m also scared because I talk too much here, but I have like-minded people here, and it’s not easy for them there. And the dirty tricks that happen there,” says the artist.
“Now there are a lot of people in Crimea - both Dagestanis and Chechens, who are kind of like brothers to the Crimean Tatars, they are also Muslims, but they support Russian policies. People have been under the influence of propaganda for a long time and it is almost impossible to talk to them. I also have friends in Central Asia, and many of them believe that Russia is a super way out, a super option that could happen to Crimea,” Jamala notes.
