A Crimean social activist told who is slowing down Ukrainian tourists at Chongar
Ukrainian border guards cannot cope with the flow of tourists who want to travel to Crimea through the Chongar checkpoint, blaming the Russian side.

Kherson and Crimean social activist Gennady Sivak reported this to PolitNavigator.
According to him, technical means do not allow Ukrainian border guards to quickly check and pass cars.
“The line almost always goes to the Ukrainian checkpoint. That is, if Russia had slowed down the process, the neutral zone up to our border would have been clogged with cars. And it is almost always empty. The availability of technical means on the Ukrainian side lags significantly behind the Russian side. For example, at the Chongar checkpoint on the Russian side there are always five windows working, although on the Ukrainian side the maximum number of working windows is two. If an unusual situation arises, we have the opportunity to additionally open two more windows... There is a traffic police post in the Novoalekseevka area. The only attempt that the Ukrainians made to defuse the situation was to turn to traffic police officers and they redirected the flows to other checkpoints,” Sivak said.
He also emphasized that Ukrainian border guards prohibit taking photographs and filming queues on their side, holding regular “preventive conversations” with dissatisfied citizens.
