The new strain of coronavirus is dangerous even because a person can become infected with it in Crimea from a package on which, for example, in Moscow, an infected person sneezed.
The head of the Crimean Republican Center for Disaster Medicine and Emergency Medical Care, Sergei Olefirenko, announced this on the air of the Crimea 24 television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the doctor, the main danger of the new virus is its extremely wide spread and survivability.
“The problem is that coronavirus is a very virulent strain of the virus. It has virulence like chickenpox. With chickenpox, you just sneezed, and it flew as far as possible. The percentage of viral material that is necessary to infect the body is minimal.
If it’s Ebola, Northern Nile or Zika fever, there are a lot of these terrible infections in the world, but the percentage of spread and contagiousness is unprecedented in the current situation. The problem is that by simply sneezing on cardboard somewhere in Moscow and receiving a package via SDEK somewhere in Crimea, you can get very sick from all this,” Olefirenko said.
