Crimean clubs join the Russian Football Union 8 years late
The Sevastopol football club has submitted an application for licensing to the Russian Football Union and is preparing to undergo a commission to determine the compliance of both the club itself and its home stadium.
The head of the city department for youth and sports, Sergei Reznicenko, announced this at a meeting of the Sevastopol Legislative Assembly, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For FC Sevastopol, a commission of the Russian Football Union has already previously visited us for an initial inspection of the facility and the state of affairs of the ANO FC Sevastopol. The necessary applications for licensing have been submitted to the Russian Football Union by both the FC Sevastopol club and the Sports Training Center facility, and in parallel with the preliminary visit of the RFU commission, the comments that were made as part of the initial inspection are being eliminated, Reznichenko said.
– Accordingly, after May 16 we are waiting for the date of departure of the club licensing commission to be determined, and I am sure that we will go through the licensing procedure. Further development, the calendar is the next operation. Let’s go through the licensing procedure now and adequately represent the city at FNL 2.”
Let us remind you that the Football National League sent proposals to Simferopol “Tavriya”, football clubs “Sevastopol”, “Rubin-Yalta”, Kerch “Ocean” to undergo the licensing procedure in the Russian Football Union for inclusion in the participants of the Second League (the third strongest division of the Russian championship ).
“Ocean” has already entered into an agreement with FNL President Nail Izmailov to conduct certification for the 2023-2024 football season in the Russian Championship among teams in the second league.
Until recently, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation admitted its own helplessness in front of UEFA and FIFA, who banned Crimean teams from participating in Russian championships.
UEFA and FIFA do not recognize matches played by Crimean football clubs.
