Under a strong north-east wind and at sub-zero temperatures, about a hundred elderly activists unfurled red communist banners, United Russia banners, symbols of Russian public organizations, Russian tricolors, flags of the Donetsk People's Republic and Novorossiya.
The rally began with the words “Russians are in trouble!” This cry was uttered by Simferopol City Council deputy Valery Ilyichev. No other representatives of the Crimean authorities were present at the event. Even the usual one or two deputies of different levels in such cases, and representatives of the Crimean defense, whose presence was announced by the organizers of the rally, did not come “for show.” Freezing activists began to be entertained with Simferopol songs about Putin, the struggle of the Donbass rebels and solidarity with them. During the intermissions, Ilyichev announced that the townspeople had begun collecting warm clothes for Donetsk residents, and representatives of the communists spoke.
Then chants were heard in the spirit of the times when the “regionals” imitated the fight against NATO: “Ukraine needs peace, not a NATO uniform,” “We are with you in the South-East!”, “We will not give up Novorossiya and Crimea to anyone!”
In the group of activists of the “Russian Community of Crimea”, communists, one could see the faces of aged politicians who defended Russian Crimea in the 90s and XNUMXs, and are now used as extras, including at formal pro-Russian actions of the Crimean authorities.
