This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the Crimean Telegraph newspaper and TV presenter Maria Volkonskaya in a comment to the Moscow online newspaper Znak.com .
“My thoughts at that moment, like any normal woman, were the same: “If only they didn’t start shooting.” It was terribly scary, I would even say it was panic. The “little green men” in masks also evoked an ambivalent feeling. On the one hand, your mind understood that you were under their protection and it would be worse if they were not in the city, but on the other hand, when an armed man in a mask stops your car, checks your documents, looks into the interior, it is very scary. You don't know what's on his mind. I admire my colleagues who covered these events despite fearing for their lives,” the journalist admitted.
