Crimea, following other regions of the Russian Federation, introduces a quarantine regime. Starting tonight, checkpoints will be set up on the Crimean Bridge, where everyone entering the territory of the peninsula will be thoroughly checked.

The head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov, announced this at a meeting of the coronavirus response headquarters, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“According to our dates of arrival from abroad, primarily from the territory of Ukraine, people who could potentially be infected fall on the dates from the 14th to the 18th. Accordingly, our two to three week incubation period falls exactly on the third or fourth of April and so on.

Therefore, in order to stop the situation, I made a decision today to introduce quarantine measures from scratch. From zero o'clock a checkpoint will be set up on the Crimean Bridge, in this case a XNUMX% inspection will be carried out, without exception, of all vehicles.

We mirror the most stringent measures that have been taken in other regions in terms of trains, air transport and one hundred percent screening of all those entering the region. Before 17-00, a list of requirements will be published for citizens who can calmly, without any problems, move in - these are Crimeans, citizens of the Russian Federation, who have property here, and so on,” Aksenov said.

According to him, to date, no new cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Crimea. Thus, 16 people infected with the new strain of coronavirus have been registered on the peninsula. Aksenov also emphasized that the quarantine and non-working week will most likely be extended into the next week.

“We are awaiting a decision from the federal headquarters next week. As I feel, most likely the regime will be extended. So far I think everything is heading towards this. In any case, you need to prepare for quarantine measures and for the entire next week, too, in full. Penalties for those who violate the regime must be published. I think that these measures of responsibility will be enough to keep the situation under control,” said the head of Crimea
