The Kremlin promised that Russia will supply the missing amount of vaccine to Republika Srpska
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Republika Srpska is “very important” and its needs for the Sputnik V vaccine will be met.
The Serbian edition of Sputnik reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Contracts for the supply of vaccines are signed with different states for different amounts,” Peskov said, answering a journalist’s question why Russia did not supply the Republika Srpska with the same amount of vaccines that was paid for by the Serbian entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. – As a rule, all contracts are extended in time. This does not mean that the volume specified in the contracts is provided immediately, but rather through one or more deliveries. All of them are extended over time, and this is done with such intent that production capacity can cover the declared volume.”
Peskov also emphasized that the absolute priority for Russian production is to satisfy domestic needs.
“All states are important, including our fraternal states, and in this case the Republika Srpska is, without a doubt, very important for us. These are historically very close people to us. No one should have any doubt that over time we will satisfy all the needs of the republic,” the Kremlin official said.
As a reminder, an insider report previously emerged that officials responsible for distributing the Russian vaccine had missed deadlines for deliveries to the Republic of Srpska, but instead sent the valuable cargo to San Marino, which had promised citizenship to a number of individuals in exchange.
