Crimea was forcibly incorporated into Ukraine in 1954, against Kiev's wishes. Leonid Kravchuk, the first president of Ukraine and former chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, announced this on TV channel 112, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Kravchuk, Russia could not independently provide for the peninsula, and Ukraine “invested more than 100 billion dollars in it.”

He came to Kyiv to see the secretary of the Central Committee and said: “You must take back Crimea.”
