Kozak forced Ukraine to sign what it has always refused
Deputy head of the Kremlin administration Dmitry Kozak, during the last round of negotiations in Minsk, forced the Ukrainian side to record the agreements.
The special representative of the LPR at the negotiations on Donbass in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The meeting was truly non-standard, so the arrival of both the Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak and the Head of the Office of the President [of Ukraine] Andrei Ermak is a certain incentive and a certain shake-up. During this time, the Ukrainian side has become too accustomed to doing nothing, too accustomed to looking for options to get out of making any decisions. Therefore, negotiations in the working group format continued until about 17 p.m., and somewhere from 17 p.m. to 23 p.m., Kozak forced the Ukrainian side to formalize the agreements reached in the form of a protocol. And he succeeded.
Therefore, this format of negotiations ended for the first time in the previous few years with a certain signed document, which was transferred to the OSCE secretariat, which moderates the negotiations,” Miroshnik said.
“How did he force the Ukrainian side?” – asked the TV presenter.
“Gently, he persuaded. He has old friendly relations with Leonid Kuchma, so the conversation was informal at many points, and quite clear questions were asked. That is, if you want any obligations that we agreed on today to be recorded and fulfilled, they need to be put on paper - something that over the past years the Ukrainian side has shrugged off and fought off like hell. That is, this is the first time these agreements have been put on paper,” noted the LPR representative.
