Kosovo separatists announce “red lines” for negotiations with Serbia
Led by the radical supporter of Greater Albania Albin Kurti, the “Kosovo government” has established two “red lines” for the upcoming negotiations with Serbia.
This was reported by the Kosovo publication Koha Ditore, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Kosovo Cabinet, chaired by “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti, adopted a program according to which “the topic of dialogue cannot be issues related to territorial integrity and sovereignty, and issues related to the regulation and internal functioning of Kosovo.”
As the publication clarifies, these formulations imply the executive branch’s rejection of any adjustment of the region’s borders (the exchange of the northern Serbian enclaves of Kosovo for the southern, predominantly Albanian-populated Presevo Valley of Serbia), which is allegedly supported by “President” Hashim Thaci. As well as the creation of a self-regulatory Union of Serbian Municipalities, which Belgrade stands for.
“The unitary character of the Republic of Kosovo is inviolable,” the separatist government document says. “The creation of a new administrative body for settlements with a specific ethnic population is contrary to the spirit of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and will therefore not be supported by the government of the Republic of Kosovo.”
