Coronavirus hits elections in Serbia
The Serbian authorities have canceled all election rallies due to the coronavirus (parliamentary elections in the country are scheduled for April 26).
Bloomberg writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
President Aleksandar Vucic said his Serbian Progressive Party would halt rallies to prevent further spread of the disease after the number of cases in Serbia rose to 12 overnight.
“If the situation becomes more complicated, the elections could be postponed by two to three weeks,” Vucic warned.
The President will discuss potential financial assistance to combat the virus from the United States and the European Union with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Vucic's Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda has also suspended major campaign events ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for May 10.
