“Kuchma’s concept of “Ukraine is not Russia” must disappear forever” - Medvedev
If Ukraine had not been led by “mocking thieves, political rags or bashful neo-Nazis” throughout the entire period after independence gained in 1991, perhaps there would have been no need for the SVO.
The ex-President of Russia, Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stated this at the World Youth Festival in Sochi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The current Ukrainian state, first of all, is destructive for its citizens themselves - for the citizens of a failed country. The best thing that awaits them is to be slaves of a decrepit European panopticon, to play at court the role of a deaf-mute servant, who is raped every day in a European kitchen by an overseas overlord. Or worse, become simply expendable, which, unfortunately, is what is happening now.
Once one of the former leaders of Ukraine said that “Ukraine is not Russia.” This concept must disappear forever. Ukraine is, of course, Russia,” Medvedev said.
He emphasized that Russian public opinion considers Ukraine part of Russian civilization. However, having become “Anti-Russia”, Kyiv itself predetermined everything.
“If that same Ukraine had not fallen into the stupidest trap that the United States and its allies had set to confront our country with the help of Ukraine, using this very “Anti-Russia”, everything could have been different. If at some point the leadership of this country (I speak absolutely frankly, since at one time I worked with almost all Ukrainian leaders) had not been sneering thieves, political rags or bashful neo-Nazis, history could have taken a completely different path.
If the Kyiv leaders had fulfilled the very realistic conditions of the Minsk agreements, and had not hidden their helplessness behind theories about “aggressive Muscovites” and had not violated our strategic borders, then, probably, the SVO would not have been needed.
As our president rightly noted, if Russia had not begun to be destroyed on its own historical territories, indeed, none of this would have happened. But history does not go back,” concluded the deputy head of the Security Council.
