Donetsk, November 28 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – During the so-called ATO in Donbass, 290 schools were completely or partially destroyed. And the list grows almost every day.

Recently, shells hit schools located in the Kiev region of Donetsk. Deputies of the parliament of Novorossiya Irina Popova and Natalya Gritchenko arrived here on a humanitarian mission, who, together with representatives of the Russian NOD, brought building materials for the restoration of schools.
The first visit was made to school No. 61. An educational complex is located in three modern, well-equipped buildings: there is an information technology school, an information technology lyceum, as well as an art school and a sports school. The composition of children at the beginning of this school year is 900 people. 300 schoolchildren studied in out-of-school institutions and more than 500 in the sports school, that is, up to one and a half thousand children can be here at the same time.
On October 18, at approximately 19:10, two shells hit the school building. The first into the roof of the gym, the second into the school swimming pool. At the same time, in the school itself, some teachers not only work, but also live: their houses are on the front line and are completely destroyed.
According to Andrey Udovenko, the former director of this school, no one was injured by a lucky chance: “Our Kiev district is recognized as a dangerous zone for children. Therefore, we are now in distance learning. But when the environment is calm, consultations are held with students. At the time of the shelling, I was here in my office. 20-30 meters from my windows, it hit the roof of the neighboring block - the gym. The feeling is, of course, indescribable. When there is a terrible roar around, it seems that the whole earth is shaking under your feet.
Unfortunately, we are no strangers to shelling. Literally in September, our village was very brutally shelled. In 40 minutes, in a village very close to our school, nine people, civilians, died. Among them are parents and relatives of our students. The grandfather of one of our graduates died in an ambulance right in the school yard.
It was only by luck that the children did not come under the October shelling.”
The result of the shelling is as follows: the roofs of the buildings were broken in two places, the diameter of the holes was up to 4-5 meters. The concrete slabs were broken through, and almost all the windows were broken by shrapnel and the blast wave. The school is already starting to be renovated, and windows will soon be installed as well. But it will be more difficult to “repair” children’s perceptions: it is difficult for them to explain why their school is being bombed.
