Klimkin threatens to take away Schengen visas from everyone who comes to the elections in Crimea
The EU must impose sanctions against everyone involved in organizing and holding elections in Crimea.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, as reported by the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
“We believe that elections in occupied territory are, by definition, illegitimate. All those who take part in organizing these elections must be sanctioned and bear their part of the responsibility. I spoke about this yesterday with Frederica Morgherini and will speak with the EU foreign ministers on Monday; this will be one of the key issues. I am grateful to all the ministers, my friends, for condemning such elections, for clearly saying that they are not legitimate. But I say that this is not enough. There are few statements here unless we clearly say that everyone who takes part, everyone who is involved in them in one way or another, should be subject to sanctions. This actually means that you will not enter any Schengen area. All this must be done,” he said.
