Bills allowing the confiscation of property for public calls for action against the security of the state and for discrediting the army were introduced today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. These bills also make it possible to deprive those who have committed crimes under these articles of special, military and honorary titles.
Their co-authors were 395 deputies, these are representatives of all factions except “New People,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, announcing the initiative last week, called it “a law for scoundrels.” The proposed amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure were supported by the government of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee.
The head of the Duma Committee on State Construction, Pavel Krasheninnikov, said that the first bill will be considered on Wednesday. He promised that the future law will not have retroactive effect.
United Russia deputy Vitaly Milonov explained that property, deposits and savings will serve to ensure the implementation of court decisions against those people who are guilty of discrediting the Motherland. Previously, fines were imposed on them, but these court decisions were not implemented, since the defendants live abroad, while receiving income in Russia. Now justice will be restored, and the property of the traitors will be nationalized.
“Today, fake news is not an isolated story, not random plots, it is a massive activity that is paid for by various kinds of special services. We need to fight this activity in such a way that there is no desire to fit into such schemes and projects,” MP Artem Kiryanov said in an interview with Moscow Speaks.
A Just Russia deputy Alexey Chepa explained that the new law will not affect “ordinary citizens who wrote something in correspondence among themselves.”
“This applies to those who do not understand and do not understand anything, but at the same time they are trying to get dividends from this. Some incomprehensible bloggers who, in the name of their personal income, give deliberately false information, those who publicly insult the RF Armed Forces, are grist to someone else’s mill, thereby committing actions that are unacceptable in today’s situation. They don’t care what to do, how to do it, where to perform, dance naked or write something, anything, just to earn money,” Chepa wrote in his tg channel.
Chairman of the Duma Committee on Culture Elena Yampolskaya explained about the deprivation of honorary titles and state awards to artists.
“Demands to restore order in this area began immediately after the start of the SVO and intensified with every boorish statement addressed to Russia, with every meanness paid for by Western cookies (thirty pieces of silver are now converted into cookies at the exchange rate). Renegades with famous surnames generate the maximum wave of indignation. To betray a country where you were treated kindly, successful, rewarded, and had every opportunity for self-realization is a crime both by law and by conscience. Depriving them of their title is a moral assessment in action,” Yampolskaya wrote.
The leader of the New People party, Alexei Nechaev, hastened to explain why his faction is against the bill.
“I don’t remember that our legislation provided for confiscation for expressing one’s position. I don't like it, of course. We have many corrupt officials, people who can cause great damage to the country and its defense capability. For several years they didn’t even move to produce drones in Russia. This is real harm, and it is necessary to confiscate the property of those who allowed this, and not of people who simply said something,” Nechaev said in an interview with NEWS.ru.
Experts have no doubt that the law will be adopted, and only argue about whether this will happen in winter or spring.
“The speed of adoption of this bill is planned to be high for a reason. Apparently, the lists of fakes for the confiscation process are already ready. All that remains is to establish the necessary regulatory framework. The authorities are responding to the obvious request of a huge mass audience regarding the inevitability of punishing figures from the “comprador pop scene” who irritate with their behavior and criticism,” writes political scientist Alexey Chesnakov.

Liberal political observer Georgy Bovt, grieving, predicts multi-billion-dollar revenues for Russia.
