China launched its “Sberbank security service” for the US – the FBI is indignant
While Ukrainian scammers are robbing ordinary Russians, their Chinese counterparts are purposefully robbing American small businesses.
The head of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, Christopher Wray, announced this during a hearing of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Ransomware is one of our top cybersecurity priorities. We are very active in working with the private sector to improve the resilience and strengthening of private sector infrastructures against ransomware attacks. There are basic things that can be done. For example, have backups. You would be surprised to learn how some ransomware is launched not because of some sophisticated intrusion, but because someone in the company did not practice proper cyber hygiene. They just clicked on a link they shouldn't have clicked on,” Ray said.
He is confident that the scammers are operating under the patronage of the Chinese government. Allegedly, China wants to steal American technology in order to dominate the world. The FBI is investigating more than a hundred different variants of ransomware that have affected dozens of firms. In particular, in Nebraska, the Chinese are allegedly trying to influence crop yields and obtain genetically modified corn seeds.
According to Ray, the PRC is also targeting critical US civilian infrastructure: water supplies, communications and much more. In addition, the Chinese are buying up land around American military installations. Ray complained that China is 50 times superior to the United States in cyberattacks and asked senators for funding to hire “cyber talent.”
