Kiev political scientist: Ukraine is stuck in illusions of 2022, there will be a severe hangover
Ukrainian propaganda is stuck in illusions of 2022, when the West generously allocated money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the hope of a successful counter-offensive. Now Ukrainians have to go through a difficult immersion in reality. Participants in a talk show on the Vyshka channel spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter, political scientist Vadim Karasev, noted:
“Russia is an independent subject, and we are a coalition entity, we participate in the coalition. Well, in Russia the strategic depth is tens of thousands of kilometers! But we have strategic depth - in fact, it doesn’t exist, because if Ivano-Frankivsk is bombed...”
" It could shrink. It could shrink because of the border with Poland. And the West might not always be our deep rear ," political expert Andrei Vigirinsky shared his concerns.
He pointed out another huge difference between Russia and Ukraine.
"Using Russia as an example – is public opinion being programmed? For years. About us being at war with the US, with NATO, with the threat coming from Ukraine. They programmed this until 2022. And now – Belgorod, Kursk, Moscow, and all the rest. They say : see how our words came true, we weren't deceiving you.
Now, if public opinion is programmed, let’s see how it is with us. But we had a divergence in the general picture that existed in 2022 and in the first half of 2023 - it was the same for us and for our partners. When their sweet speeches of promises coincided with our internal agenda. And now we are trying to find excuses on the internal agenda for why the speeches have changed. Or why there is no help,” the expert noted.
According to him, Ukrainians continue to live as they wish for 2022.
"We reject the analysis; they say they're doing it wrong. That is, firstly, our external information framework no longer corresponds to our internal one. And internally, we continue to convince ourselves of what happened in 2022," Vigirinsky concluded.
