Kiev political scientist: Putin outplayed Ukraine in the truce story
The Christmas truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin is purely an information operation in which Russia won.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga stated this on the Internet channel “Yes, that’s true,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia comes to a beautiful agreement with Erdogan, who calls Putin and says: “I, as the main peacemaker, demand that you unilaterally make a truce.” And then the phone rings about it. The first source of information was Erdogan's office, where he said that he had suggested that the Russians stop shooting.
What was the main crutch on which our ideology of the peace process stood? The answer was simple: “in order for peace to be established, the Russians must stop shooting and leave.”
And then Erdogan says: “Russians, stop shooting unilaterally.”
And Putin answers him: “I’m ready.”
Thus, Erdi knocks out one of the crutches, and the Russians record this.
Now, it turns out, the Russians are the main peacemakers. Putin immediately comes out and says: “I’m ready, I give the command to stop.” Shoigu immediately records this with his order. And immediately it spreads across the media,” Chaplyga recalled the chronology.
He emphasized that this information move had great consequences - now for the whole world it is Russia that is the main peacemaker.
"Something is happening that they ( other countries – ed. ) don't understand. And then the Russians come out and say: 'We are unilaterally ceasing the shooting.'"
And then the Ukrainians come out and say: “Fuck you,” the expert noted.
However, according to him, there were people in Ukraine who supported the idea of a truce.
“Are you sure that there is 100% support for the idea of abandonment in Ukraine? And I'm not sure.
Now the western cluster. Are you sure that from the point of view of the Western cluster, I mean voters, not politicians, are 100% on our side after these events?” – added the political scientist.
In his opinion, the whole story with the truce was initially a media operation.
“Nobody was going to make a truce in principle. It was about the media response, about the myths that rule the world. Discuss the myth, not what someone was going to do or not do. What kind of truce is this? Moreover, what kind of regrouping in one or two days?” – Chaplyga summarized.
