Kiev minister accused Crimea of refusing Ukrainian water
Ukraine suffers losses due to the maintenance of the North Crimean Canal, water from which is not supplied to the peninsula, but is discharged into the Black Sea in the Kherson region.
Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak announced this on Channel 5, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the minister, water is not supplied through the canal to Crimea due to the fact that the peninsula is “not ready to accept it.”

“As of today, the North Crimean Canal does not supply water precisely because of the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. They cannot ensure the operation of this channel. Water across Ukrainian territory actually reaches the administrative border. We cannot supply this water further because they cannot provide it. The Water Resources Agency spends budget funds, funds from Ukrainian tax payers, in order to maintain the entire system, including the North Crimean Canal on the territory of Ukraine,” Semerak said.
