The United States can directly agree with Russia on a range of controversial issues, including resolving the situation in Ukraine.

Ukrainian political scientists Vasily Filipchuk and Vadim Karasev stated this on TV channel 112.
Thus, according to Filipchuk, the reason that such an agreement can be reached without involving the Ukrainian side in the negotiations is the fact that Ukraine does not play a significant role for the United States.
“The United States has never hidden in domestic political discourse that Ukraine is not particularly important for them. For them, what is important is Russia, competition with it and containment of Russian imperial ambitions. But even here, Ukraine is only part of the game,” Filipchuk said.
Karasev added that the “deal” could include not only the Ukrainian issue, but also a set of global problems:
“I agree with Vasily, he has a good analysis. A US-Russian deal is possible. There are both Ukraine and Syria, not only the Ukrainian crisis, there are global problems there.”
