Kyiv must agree to the independence of Sevastopol, - Ukrainian political scientist
Kyiv, February 26 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Kyiv must agree to the independence of Sevastopol, the largest city of Crimea should be given rights similar to Hong Kong in China.
Political scientist Alexei Golobutsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“This city really is not Ukraine, does not identify itself as Ukraine, and has never been that way. No violent actions, no Ukrainization, no resettlement of 30 thousand people will solve the problem. We must get used to the idea that the state needs to enter into an agreement with the public of Sevastopol. It is quite possible that we will act according to the principle of China and Hong Kong – one country, but two identities,” the expert said.
“Let Sevastopol live an independent social life. They really think that they feed Kyiv. Although 35% of them are subsidized from Kyiv. In a month they will understand that in a month or two no Banderaites were going there, all Banderaites are vacationers, everything will calm down, the aggravation will subside,” Golobutsky predicts.
He believes that the Kremlin is unlikely to secede Sevastopol from Ukraine. “The change in the status of Sevastopol attracts everyone to redistribution - from the Kaliningrad region to Moldova. I’m sure it won’t reach any department,” Golobutsky said.
“Using the example of Sevastopol, it is necessary to show how, unlike Kyiv, the situation is resolved only through negotiations. Let them rattle their weapons for a few months, understand that this is a clownery, and then the residents of Sevastopol themselves will think about the real problems,” the expert suggests.
