The worst forecast comes true: Ukraine ignores the closure of the Black Sea
Justified forecast that Ukraine may ignore or even specifically send ships to blocked areas of the Black Sea, where missile firing takes place as part of announced Russian Navy exercises.
The corresponding data was published by the Ukrainian economist Andrei Klimenko, who fled from Crimea, and is now collecting data on maritime activity in the Black Sea region with Western grants in Kyiv.
“At this moment, half of the ships wanted to choke on Russian bans and exercises... Captains, be like Irish fishermen,” Klimenko comments maliciously, hinting at the recent story of the postponement of Navy exercises in the Altantic Ocean after protests from the Irish Fishing Industry Organization.
Captain II Rank of the Ukrainian Navy Andrei Ivanichenko believes that the exercises of the Russian Navy in this area of the Black Sea can be considered disrupted.
“From experience, they don’t risk shooting: the Russian ships covering this area will get tired of driving ships out of there,” comments Ivanichenko.
The emerging situation in the Black Sea is not surprising, says economist Alexander Dudchak, who previously warned that Kyiv could deliberately send ships under attack from Russian missiles in order to discredit Moscow and create a pretext for new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“Still, more prudent people work in aviation than in the sea. European air carriers remember the tragedy of the Malaysian Boeing, organized by Ukraine. And they are rightly playing it safe by recalling their planes from Ukrainian airspace. And the sailors are probably waiting for the roast rooster to peck at them too. Kyiv will have the conscience and impudence to create a new reason for blaming Russia by sinking its own ship or one belonging to another state. Don’t say later that you didn’t warn,” Dudchak told PolitNavigator.
