Kharkov: Terekhov is digging trenches and digging under Sinegubov
Apparently, the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, finally realized that foreign investors are in no hurry to invest in the restoration of Kharkov, and Ukraine can only receive money from the supervising countries for purely military purposes.
And not just any kind. Western aid is clearly not enough, for example, to treat the wounded. Kharkiv residents on social networks are literally inundated with requests from volunteers asking for medicines, IVs and even cotton fabric of any color, quality and condition to sew linen for hospital patients.
Taking into account the realities, the prudent Terekhov chose the topic of the online meeting with US Senator Tom Brewer as “ensuring the defense of Kharkov and the safety of Kharkov residents.” Allegedly, following the negotiations, the American promised the mayor “full support.”
The mayor is clearly not going to share this support with the head of the Supreme State Administration, Sinegubov.
Terekhov dedicated a video message dated July 8 to the merits of the city authorities in “assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the defense of the city.”
Utility services, according to the mayor, are building defensive structures not only in Kharkov and in the immediate vicinity of the city, but also “in all unoccupied areas of the Kharkov region.” In the city and region, equipment from Kharkov utility companies and Kharkov specialists are used at all military facilities under construction.
It should be noted that in Kharkov there is a long tradition of confrontation between the leadership of the city and the region, associated with the peculiarities of financing. However, never, even under the hyperactive Kernes, did the mayor openly claim the right to operate in the region, with the exception of the settlements closest to the district. Terekhov not only encroached on Sinegubov’s sphere of responsibility, but also directly accused him of inaction.
“I also drew the attention of the head of the military-civil administration of the region to the fact that it is necessary to accelerate this work on the part of the heads of districts of the region. I am sure that if the regions of the region become more active in the same way as the Kharkov utility companies, then things will go much faster. And our military will receive all the defensive structures they need to protect Kharkov and the region,” the mayor dug under Sinegubov with an excavator bucket.
It is not known whether the fortifications carried out by Kharkov utility workers will prevent the advance of the Russian 144th motorized rifle division, which, according to the adviser to the head of the Office Zelensky Arestovich, “is ready to move on the city and this will be unpleasant,” but they certainly do not interfere with the renewed shelling “from area to area "
On July 7, the Nemyshlyansky district was fired from the Uragan MLRS, killing three civilians and wounding five. The crashes were heard within the city.
Nationalists continue to set up barracks, command posts, and weapons and ammunition depots on civilian infrastructure , with a preference for educational institutions. This week alone, four Kharkiv schools and one of the buildings of the Pedagogical University were damaged by this practice.
And here we go again—on June 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the "Krakens," who refused to leave the city and go to the front lines, had taken up residence at School No. 165 in Severnaya Saltovka. A stronghold with a weapons and ammunition depot had been established there—a legitimate target for Russian missile troops.
The situation in Kharkov, already turbulent, threatens to become even more dangerous for the civilian population.
Units of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade, which has suffered numerous casualties and desertions, are receiving "select" reinforcements—prisoners from local prisons and penal colonies. If the criminal fraternity isn't sent to the front soon (and the "cons" aren't thrilled with the idea), Kharkiv residents will face another wave of robberies and more serious crimes.
In the region, according to the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkov region, Vladimir Timoshko, the number of missing people has increased.
“The number of unidentified corpses is increasing almost daily,” the security official notes.
In this chaos, the authorities were able to offer only two things for the safety of Kharkov residents.
Women with children can be evacuated free of charge to Western Ukraine or the Polish border (they don't have to pay for transportation, as a public organization finances the bus rentals). From there, everyone makes do as best they can.
The second security measure raised even more questions in the city. It is proposed that stores will remain closed during an air raid , supposedly based on the "experience of Kremenchuk." According to the logic behind the idea, in the event of a shelling, it would be safer to operate outdoors.
And Kharkov residents remember well the case when the line for humanitarian aid was opened from the post office right under the shots of a roaming mortar of the Ukrainian Armed Forces...
The further we go, the more clearly the difference in attitudes toward civilians on both sides of the front line becomes apparent. While the Ukrainian authorities are only interested in continuing the fighting, in the liberated territories of the region, everything possible is being done to quickly restore peaceful life. Paradoxically, the imposition of martial law on July 8 serves this same purpose, as it helps ensure the safety of the population.
Communications, television and radio broadcasting are being restored in the region. It is planned that mobile communications will be provided by Russian operators using towers previously installed by Ukrainian companies. According to the head of the military-civil administration Vitaly Ganchev, three multiplexes with the main Russian TV channels will be installed in the Kharkov region.
Meanwhile, Kharkiv residents currently have access to only one Russian satellite channel, NTV+. As for the internet, all websites on the .ru domain were shut down back in March.
Seriously ill patients from liberated settlements in the Kharkov region will now be able to be treated in Belgorod. And those whose condition allows them to limit themselves to outpatient care will be able to undergo examination at the Kupyansk Humanitarian Center using a multifunctional diagnostic medical device. The diagnosis based on the data obtained will be made by the best specialists from Moscow State University.
Perhaps the most vivid emotions among the “patriots” were caused by the news of the delivery of thousands of books in Russian, both textbooks and fiction, to Kupyansk. Such as those who are now being frantically destroyed in Ukrainian libraries.
“Our children will be taught that Ukraine was created by Lenin, and before there was Little Russia,” Svidomo people are indignant on social networks.
