“Carousel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and range”: analyst on the problems of counter-battery warfare of the RF Armed Forces
Russian troops are in dire need of a new generation of artillery systems, which are only now beginning to reach the troops.
This was stated by Andrei Klintsevich, head of the Center for Military-Political Studies, in response to a question about how Russian soldiers cope with foreign equipment in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Well, the Bayraktary drones were landed in the very first months. Slow, easy target. Weapons for fighting a “simple” enemy – Karabakh, Syria, Africa. As for the rest, the armor, for example, of the “leopards” turned out to be not optimal - they were preparing for frontal battles and for hits in the forehead, and the rear hemisphere, the ammunition rack protruding from the rear, is what ours hit with grenade launchers and drones. There is a video of it burning.
But their fire control system is accurate, their engines are powerful, and the tank is quite fast and maneuverable. True, on arable land it is not very passable. Ours, including the T-72, turned out to be more adaptable,” Klintsevich said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He admits that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ artillery has longer range.
“Here we have room to move. German “shells” and their other artillery systems can fire 40 km away, but in our country this is only available for the “coalition”, which is only now beginning to enter the army. There are difficulties. We compensate with reactive systems and “lancets”. When a new generation of artillery comes, it will be much calmer,” says the military analyst.
According to him, the problem of counter-battery warfare is not only the greater range of the enemy’s guns, but also the new tactics of the enemy.
“Before, batteries were compact. Now the guns are scattered 5-10 km from each other. And “in the carousel” they begin to launch a fire attack. While you are concentrating on finding the first gun that fired at you, they are firing from the second, third from other areas, and the first has already gone to the reserve area. We need good reconnaissance,” Klintsevich concluded.
