The French Labor Ministry announced on Wednesday that the number of unemployed people increased by 5,8 percent compared to last year. Among people over 50, unemployment increased by 11%. The rising unemployment figures point to a continuing economic decline in the eurozone's second-largest economy.
French people over 50 are unemployed not only because of the Europe-wide economic downturn, but also because young immigrants from poor countries are willing to do their jobs for less.
