Senator of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from Crimea, Olga Kovitidi, spoke about the danger for Russia of the Russophobic policy pursued by the leadership of Kazakhstan under the dictation of the United States and proposed changing Moscow’s attitude towards Astana.
She wrote about this on her page in the Telegram channel, titling her post with the words “Opinion. Kazakhstan.”, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kovitidi emphasized that Tokayev did not draw any conclusions for himself after Russia personally saved him in Bloody January 2022.
“The United States is in a hurry, diligently drawing on the map of the anti-Russian confrontation the contours of another “hot spot” in the underbelly of Russia, projected by the United States.
In its struggle with Russia, the United States is multi-directional and restless. Strange things from the post-Soviet space arouse clearly unhealthy interest among Russia's enemies. And Kazakhstan is in a special risk group.
With all the diversity of the political landscape of Kazakhstan, Russia has always tried to brotherly understand, help and support the Kazakh people, proving in practice the reliability of friendship and the importance of political and military cooperation between the countries of the post-Soviet space.But in Astana, the friendly gesture of Russia and the CSTO peacekeeping contingent was not appreciated. None of the CSTO member countries understood what Kazakhstan’s decision to support sanctions against Russia means.
Saved by Russia, Tokayev canceled the celebration of the Victory Parade, establishing official fines for Victory symbols. Encouraged by the authorities, aggressive nationalist and anti-Russian sentiments are growing in Kazakh society. There are practically no Russians anywhere in government bodies anymore. The actions of the ruling Kazakh government are obviously anti-Russian in nature, and there is no longer any point in pretending that everything is fine in Russian-Kazakh relations,” she emphasized.
“We need to think hard about what to do with all this. Kazakhstan today is economically reoriented to the West.
Astana refused to pay in rubles and agreed with the European Union to bypass Russia in uranium transactions and export coal to the EU. We see obvious distancing of Kazakhstan from Russia.
Having learned nothing from the events of January 2022, Astana has now further intensified its extremely dangerous multi-vector policy, implemented in the interests of the political, trade, financial, and energy Kazakh elites.
Realizing that Kazakhstan plays a significant role in the SCO, CSTO, and Eurasian Economic Union, the Anglo-Americans are diligently instilling in Astana the idea of the exclusivity of their Turkic identity. Lulling Kazakh nationalists with the utopia of Euro-Atlantic plans for the revival of the “Turkic enclave”, the so-called Great Turan in the territories from the seas of the Arctic Ocean, the Ural Mountains, the Volga region and Siberia to Central Asia, Tibet, the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus, the United States is persistently trying to drag Kazakhstan into a dangerous political adventure, unobtrusively contrasting it with Turkey, which is unpredictable for the West.
Promising Astana to make it a center of consolidation of the Turks, the Anglo-Saxons are pursuing exclusively their own interests.
The United States needs a new hot spot near the borders with Russia, a new war, a new large-scale anti-Russian military campaign, as a result of which people who are strangers to the Americans will die on a foreign continent,” the senator noted.
According to Kovitidi, if Astana continues to blindly follow the American aggressive anti-Russian policy, Moscow will draw “appropriate conclusions” by reconsidering its approaches to Kazakhstan.
“The war for the United States is just a business and nothing personal, the fact that it kills people, makes orphans of children, maims bodies and destinies, is not important for the United States, as long as the war brings profit to America, or rather, to those who lead it.
Kazakhstan is doubly interesting to Washington, because the country not only borders on Russia, but occupies a geostrategic place in Eurasia, being part of the “heartland,” the so-called “core of the earth” of the continent. Moreover, Kazakhstan is located very close to the borders of the main enemies of the United States: China and Iran. That is why the USA, Britain, and the EU are investing money in Kazakhstan immeasurably.
Thus, the American Agency for International Development has already allocated the first $12 million of the planned $50 million to the Kazakh media, political scientists and bloggers focused on the United States and ready to throw mud at Russia and the entire Soviet past, which these false patriots of Kazakhstan call “colonial”!
The Americanization of Kazakhstan has been going on systematically for a long time, it is obvious that we in Russia have underestimated its harmful consequences. Kazakhstan is a priority for Russia’s enemies, and we must promptly reassess the processes taking place there and draw the proper conclusions,” the Russian senator concluded.
