“Interesting moments”: Russia is profiting from Europe even after the EU refuses gas
The reduction in Russian gas supplies to Europe has a positive aspect: having stopped their industry, EU countries are now forced to buy Russian products made from the same gas that was not supplied to the European Union.
Leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund Igor Yushkov stated this in an interview with the PolitWera YouTube channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Interesting moments are happening in the same Germany. They have reduced purchases of Russian gas, but what they themselves used to make from Russian gas, for example, nitrogen fertilizers, are now purchased in Russia. And we are increasing the production of nitrogen fertilizers and supplying them to Germany,” Yushkov said.
According to Eurostat, in January-September last year, European imports of nitrogen fertilizers from Russia increased by 7,6%. Germany became the leader, increasing imports by 3,2 times.
The refusal of Russian gas led to an energy crisis in Europe and the destruction of energy-intensive industries. First of all, it was the chemical industry that suffered, where 80% of costs come from gas. As a result, European companies sharply reduced the production of fertilizers, and prices for their products soared, which forced European consumers to reorient themselves to cheaper imports from the Russian Federation.
