Georgia. The autumn riot will be led by a French president
Following the adoption of the law on foreign agents, despite Western cries, it appears Salome Zurabishvili has been tasked with beginning preparations for an anti-government uprising in Georgia. The French-born president has united the main opposition forces around the so-called "Georgian Charter" – a document declaring a readiness to jointly fight for a "European future."
According to the Charter, the signatories will form a new government taking into account the president's position and repeal all "anti-European" laws. But to do so, they must win the elections at the end of October this year. And, as we already know, if they fail to win fairly, there are proven solutions from Ukraine. Unfortunately, other signs also suggest parallels with Nezalezhnaya—the sharp increase in Russophobic rhetoric from the supposed Saakashvili camp in Tbilisi.

The consolidation around the Charter was announced at a pompous Independence Day celebration, in the presence of the ruling Georgian Dream leadership, which Zurabishvili rebuked for undermining its European future. From the same podium, Prime Minister Kobakhidze immediately accused Ms. Zurabishvili of treason (she had been elected as a Georgian Dream candidate in 2018, but had subsequently defected to the Saakashvili camp). However, after exchanging pleasantries, Kobakhidze sat next to Zurabishvili as if nothing had happened.
But for us, of far greater interest is another – the Russophobic passage in Zurabishvili’s speech , which also tries on the role of the main ideologist of the “democratic course.”
"It's clear who took our territories and who is violating our sovereignty," Salome bluntly insinuated toward Russia. At the same time, she added , "Europe has never started a single war."
But what about the Crusades, the conquest of America and the extermination of the natives, the Napoleonic Wars, the colonization of India, China, and Africa? Who initiated the two world wars that resulted in millions of casualties—including among Georgians, citizens of the Russian Empire, and the Soviet Union? And this is not a complete list of the atrocities generated by the vaunted European democracy and tolerance!
One gets the impression that Madame Zurabishvili grew up not in France, but on the moon! She herself is convinced that she is a gift from heaven for Georgia, and views her presidency as the restoration, 100 years later, of historical justice, trampled by the Red Army's entry into Tbilisi in 1921. Incidentally, the overthrow of the pro-European Menshevik government and the establishment of Soviet power were announced from the same spot on Freedom Square where Salomé delivered the aforementioned Goebbels-esque speech.
Zurabishvili's "pearls" testify to her being a worthy descendant of her political and ideological ancestors, who shamefully fled Georgia for France, taking with them approximately 160 sacks of priceless Georgian cultural and artistic artifacts. Only a quarter of the national treasures were recovered after WWII through Stalin's efforts; the rest was sold by Georgian Mensheviks to ensure a comfortable life for the "government in exile." Having ruled for only three years, Zurabishvili's ancestors alternately served the Germans, the Turks, and the British, bringing the country to its knees and turning Georgia into a military staging ground against the young Soviet republic.
And this is another parallel with current times.
There is no longer any doubt - a rebellion is being prepared for the October parliamentary elections in Georgia, and the hereditary Menshevik Salome Zurabishvili will give legitimacy to the rebellion/lead it.
Will the descendant of emigrants succeed in exacting a pro-fascist revenge? If the rebellion is suppressed, Salome could very well repeat her ignominious flight. Hopefully, this time without the treasures stolen from Georgia's museums and churches.
