The hryvnia is no longer destined to strengthen
By the end of 2020, the hryvnia exchange rate will drop from the current 27,5 to 30 per dollar, and thus the average annual exchange rate will correspond to that included in the Ukrainian budget for 2020.
Honored Economist of Ukraine Alexey Plotnikov announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“When they replaced the previous head of the NBU, the main complaint against him was that the hryvnia had strengthened too much, it did not correspond to forecasts, and it harmed exporters. Therefore, much suggests that the hryvnia exchange rate is unlikely to strengthen. There will be no cheap dollars, as there was in the summer and last year. The dollar will rise in price, the question is to what extent.
If we proceed from the annual forecast, which was given during the budget and adjusted in the summer, then I think that it cannot stop at 27-28. Rather, by the end of the year it should increase to 30 so that the average annual figure reaches 29 and kopecks, which was included in the formation of the state budget and on which the authorities and those who formed the budget were counting.
Therefore, I do not predict an unprecedented collapse. The dollar will not become cheaper. Most likely, on January 1 we will reach the rate of 30,” Plotnikov said.
