Robbers robbed a temple at the cemetery of Crimean War heroes
Church thieves were detained in Sevastopol; jewelry worth more than a million rubles was found under the hood of their car.
The robbers were detained after they ransacked the St. Nicholas Memorial Church, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“While processing operational information, the police stopped their car,” said Irina Volk, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. – The accomplices hid the stolen jewelry worth more than one million rubles under the hood. Equipment, tools and other items of evidentiary value were found in the trunk and interior.”
The criminal duo acted as follows: during the day they chose a temple with expensive decorations and offerings for icons, and at night they knocked out doors and windows and took out everything valuable. There is information that attackers acted in a similar way in St. Petersburg, the Orenburg region and the Republic of Belarus.
The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “theft”. The sanction under the article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
