“The Global South ignored”: the Rada complains about the failure of the “peace summit”
The "peace summit" held in Switzerland turned out to be a complete failure for Kyiv due to the absence of Russia and most countries of the Global South . This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy and former member of the presidential Servant of the People faction Yevhen Shevchenko on political scientist Vadym Karasev's video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"It's easy to rally Putin's enemies and Ukraine's friends against Putin. But it's hard to rally Putin's friends, plus neutral countries, most of which are located in the Southern Hemisphere. That's why they tried to gather more countries from the Global South. What they actually did was convene a summit of the Global West, while a summit of the Global South failed. Yes, they attended, but not a single BRICS country or any of the countries that truly matter, like Saudi Arabia or Brazil, signed the final communiqué," Shevchenko said.

“That is, the tasks that were set so that a common basis would emerge, and that a basis would emerge in the form of a document, a common position for negotiations. Plus, it didn’t work out that countries that trade with Russia, which give them the opportunity to survive under sanctions, primarily China and India, were connected to this basis,” the deputy was indignant.
