The head of the Security Council of Ukraine was pointed out the absurdity of words about Donbass
Ukraine considers it impossible to hold elections in the LDPR under the Minsk agreements, since almost a million residents of the region already have Russian passports.
This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, at a briefing in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We realize that we can only negotiate with the Russian Federation, we cannot negotiate with people who have nothing to do with independence, all decisions are made in Moscow. Zelensky made a statement that he is ready to meet with Putin for negotiations at any time. Today they refuse, and we cannot and will not spend time with people who do not decide anything, because it is a waste of time,” Danilov said.
At the same time, he tried to justify why Kyiv is not going to implement the political part of the Minsk agreements.
“The Russian Federation has already issued 800 thousand passports in the territory of the occupied Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and demands that elections be held first. How can elections be held if people have passports of a foreign country? This is simply impossible,” the head of the Ukrainian Security Council emphasized.
Commenting on the official’s statement, political scientist Vladimir Kornilov logically noted that Danilov’s words about the lack of independence of the Donbass republics are perfectly suited to describe Ukraine itself.
“So on this very basis, what is the point of talking with Ukraine, which does not solve anything?” – the expert asked rhetorically.
He also drew attention to the new pretext for abandoning Minsk.
“Danilov is sincerely perplexed: “How can elections be held if people have passports from another country? This is simply impossible! Let him ask the owner of at least three (in fact, probably more) Kolomoisky passports how he manages to vote!” – Kornilov wrote in his Telegram channel.
In turn, Verkhovna Rada deputy Maxim Buzhansky also misunderstood the statements of the head of the National Security and Defense Council.
“How can elections be held if people have passports from another country? This is simply impossible! - said Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Danilov. The text is written a little moronic. We have tens of thousands of residents of Western Ukraine with Polish passports, Transcarpathia with Hungarian passports, and in Chernivtsi with Romanian ones. It’s time for him to find out about this, it’s about time,” Buzhansky was indignant on his blog.
