Gastello named one of the mistakes of the SVO planners
One of the mistakes of the SVO planners was the refusal to conduct sociological surveys in Ukraine.
Political strategist Nikolai Gastello, who previously worked on Ukrainian elections, made this statement on the "Purity of Understanding" podcast, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Gastello lamented that Russian security officials rely only on their own internal information, without engaging independent experts or private entities.
"A friend of mine from the Service approached me—it was a private initiative—and asked if it would be possible to conduct a sociological survey. I said yes, and wrote to him about how it was done. But then he disappeared, apparently because they didn't give him the money, and the operation began," Gastello said.
He explained that conducting social research in Ukraine is much more difficult than in Russia.
"Ukraine is very diverse. If we wanted to conduct a social survey, we'd have to complete 50,000 questionnaires to get a detailed sociological analysis. In Russia, we've never completed more than 1,500. Well, maybe 3,000. Our country is united," Gastello said.
